Humans have created artificial intelligence machines and their artificial intelligence machines have created valuable inventions and creative works. But, thus far, the U.S. Copyright Office has refused to register works authored by artificial intelligence and the U.S. Patent Office has refused to register inventions created by artificial intelligence. The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes Greenberg Traurig, LLP whose attorneys, Joel Feldman and Robert King, will present “Out of the Bot Thinking: The Legal Battle to Recognize Artificial Intelligence as Valid Patent Inventors and Copyright Authors”. This program will explore the question of whether Congress and the courts should allow the patent registration of these inventions and copyright registration of these works, including one AI pioneer’s journey through the courts.

Joel Feldman, Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Trademark & Brand Management Group, is an intellectual property problem solver and thought leader. He creates bespoke global domestic and international brand management strategies, crafts licensing and transactional frameworks for the commercialization of trademarks and copyrights, and resolves trademark, copyright, domain-name, and publicity rights controversies.

Robert A. King, Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta Intellectual Property & Technology Practice, focuses his intellectual property law practice on patent portfolio management, patent prosecution, and intellectual property licensing. Bob has a background as an electrical engineer, as well as wide-ranging experience with a variety of technologies, and has represented clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Attendance is limited to ACC members and their invited in-house counsel guests, as well as prospective ACC members. ACC membership is open to attorneys who practice law as in-house counsel employees of organizations and who do not hold themselves out to the public for the practice of law.

Thanks to Greenberg Traurig, the CLE lunch program is complimentary for the first 130 ACC members who register on-line. Thereafter, the fee for current ACC members is $25, and, in all circumstances, $35 for non-members, including prospective members. A CLE credit of one (1) hour is being applied for, and if approved, will be submitted to the Georgia State Bar for attendees licensed to practice in Georgia.

While we understand that some "no shows" are unavoidable, we kindly ask that you please consider our speakers and hosts who have spent a considerable amount of time and resources to put this event on for you before deciding not to attend. Good attendance helps ensure that ACC Georgia can continue to offer CLE programming and networking events at no cost to our ACC Georgia members. If you need to cancel, we ask for 48 hours’ notice to georgia@accglobal.com. ACC Georgia reserves the right to charge a fee for attendees who do not cancel.

If you have any questions, please contact Connie Swindell-Harding at georgia@accglobal.com.
